Episode 22 of the Nature of Meditation podcast explores Compassion in Meditation.
Grace will come in a moment and allow your mind be kind to yourself. It doesn’t have to come right now. Compassion can come at any time, when conditions come together and your heart and mind open with kindness. Compassion in meditation can help soften the impact of afflictive and negative states of consciousness. It can help prevent negativity from coming up in the first place, and when self-criticism and self-judgemment arises in the mind, compassion can help alleviate it. A true heart is not critical, judgemental or hostile, but undefended, kind and compassionate.
