Consciousness in Meditation

Episode 19
1:04:29

Episode 19 of the Nature of Meditation podcast explores Consciousness in Meditation.

In an everyday sense, consciousness is the state of being aware of and having subjective experiences of oneself and the world. In this perspective, consciousness is always generating a world of subject and object, an experiencer and an experienced, an isolated individual called me.

In this episode, I briefly cover the Buddhist understanding of consciousness as a dynamic ever-changing process of knowing, rather than a fixed entity. All streams of consciousness come and go, so let’s not get attached to or caught up in any state of consciousness or any theory of consciousness.
